Neural circuits underlying social memory and its dysfunction in neuropsychiatric disease
The hippocampus plays an important role in the storage of episodic memories, including the social memories of our encounters with other individuals. We find that the small CA2 subregion of the hippocampus is critically involved in social memory storage and that alterations in CA2 properties produce abnormalities in social behavior associated with neuropsychiatric disorders.
